A binary search problem on graphs

چکیده
Franzkeit, R., A binary search problem on graphs, Discrete Applied Mathematics 36 (1992) 83-86. Let G = (V, E) be a graph and e’~ E an unknown edge. I:, order to find e’ we choose a sequence of test sets WC V, where aftev every test we are told whether both vertices incident to e’ are in W, or not. For C(Gj, L,,~ Aminimum number of tests required, the inequality c(G)? rlogz 1~11 clearly holds (in_formation theoretic lower bound). It was conjectured by Chang and Hwang that for a bipartite graph G this lower bound is always achieved. Here we show c(G)< [log1 IEI~+ 1 for bipartite graphs and c(G)5 [log2 IElI + 3 for arbitrary graphs.

متن کاملA particle swarm optimization algorithm for minimization analysis of cost-sensitive attack graphs
To prevent an exploit, the security analyst must implement a suitable countermeasure. In this paper, we consider cost-sensitive attack graphs (CAGs) for network vulnerability analysis. In these attack graphs, a weight is assigned to each countermeasure to represent the cost of its implementation. There may be multiple countermeasures with different weights for preventing a single exploit. Also,...
متن کاملFlow Shop Scheduling Problem with Missing Operations: Genetic Algorithm and Tabu Search
Flow shop scheduling problem with missing operations is studied in this paper. Missing operations assumption refers to the fact that at least one job does not visit one machine in the production process. A mixed-binary integer programming model has been presented for this problem to minimize the makespan. The genetic algorithm (GA) and tabu search (TS) are used to deal with the optimization...
متن کاملOn the inverse maximum perfect matching problem under the bottleneck-type Hamming distance
Given an undirected network G(V,A,c) and a perfect matching M of G, the inverse maximum perfect matching problem consists of modifying minimally the elements of c so that M becomes a maximum perfect matching with respect to the modified vector. In this article, we consider the inverse problem when the modifications are measured by the weighted bottleneck-type Hamming distance. We propose an alg...
متن کاملJust chromatic exellence in fuzzy graphs
A fuzzy graph is a symmetric binary fuzzy relation on a fuzzy subset. The concept of fuzzy sets and fuzzy relations was introduced by L.A.Zadeh in 1965cite{zl} and further studiedcite{ka}. It was Rosenfeldcite{ra} who considered fuzzy relations on fuzzy sets and developed the theory of fuzzy graphs in 1975. The concepts of fuzzy trees, blocks, bridges and cut nodes in fuzzy graph has been studi...
